Dear St. David's Families:
The Warrior Club is off to a quick start this fall. Here's an update on our major initiatives this year.
Membership: We are very encouraged with the number of memberships received thus far. Our numbers are ahead of last year's pace with more than 140 families who have joined the Warrior Club. It's never too late to join. The membership form can be found on the St. David's School Web site in the Warrior Club section. Your membership dollars have enabled us to purchase several important items already this year in support of St. David's athletics. They are: a portable defibrillator in case of medical emergencies, additional fencing around the soccer and football field, and a portable tent for use by our cross country team and for home athletic events.
Friday Pizza: The Warrior Club, through many parent teams, sells and serves Domino's pizza as a lunch service every Friday. As we described in our summer mailing, starting with the winter Campus Cuisine order due Nov. 3, Friday Pizza will need to be preordered for all grades. This change is being implemented due to the unpredictable nature of pizza orders. We greatly appreciate all the parent volunteers who will continue to spend one day per month serving pizza on behalf of the Warrior Club.
First Annual, First Ever Warrior Club Golf Classic: On October 13 th , we shared a glorious, fun-filled day of fellowship and friendly competition at the Warrior Club Golf Classic. The Warrior Club Board established the Golf Classic as an annual event in support of St. David's ambitious facility improvement plans. With our athletics program being a major benefactor, 100% of the proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the Capital Campaign for the renovation of the current gymnasium as well as the construction of a badly needed new full-size gym. We would like to thank the corporate and individual sponsors who generously contributed to the event. A list of all the sponsors and results of the tournament can be found on the back of this letter. Our tournament chair, Susan Vick, worked tirelessly to plan and coordinate every aspect of the day. We will be forever grateful to Susan for setting the standard by which all future Golf Classic's will benefit. Thank you to Ben and Liz Hynson who so graciously worked with MacGregor Downs Country Club to offer us such a pristine venue to host our event. Lastly, thank you to the numerous Warrior Club parents who volunteered their time to make this day a tremendous success.
St. David's Parent Volunteers: Once again, we are humbled by the many who share their time and energy in support of St. David's athletics and as an instrumental part of their success. Parent volunteers have helped with the St. David's Invitational Soccer Tournament and the on-campus cross country meets; served as volleyball line judges; and supported our football program as statisticians, clock operations and the chain gang. Special thanks to Susan and Jay Vick who coordinate and operate the concession stand at Varsity football games.
The Warrior Club is committed to serving you, so please call on any of us with questions or concerns throughout the year.
Go Warriors!
