College Placement: Services

Students and parents begin meeting with the Director of
College Placement and Guidance Counseling on a regular basis by their junior year,
formulating a selection of colleges that they are most interested in attending.
One of the first and most aggressive measures the school takes in assisting the
junior class in the early stages of the college selection process is the sponsoring
of the annual tour of colleges and
universities. This trip is a four-day exploration of six college and universities
of very different philosophies and backgrounds.
In their senior year, students begin applying to colleges and meet with the Director
of College Placement and Guidance Counseling on a more regular basis. Junior and
senior students also meet with college representatives as they visit the campus
or the various college fairs held in the Raleigh area during the year. Parents are
involved in college planning through the ninth grade College Admissions Night (which
includes an on-campus formal presentation by an area college admissions officer
on the selection process), Junior Class College Night, and conferences with the
Director of College Placement and Guidance Counseling.
In addition, all students and parents receive
Collegebeat, a monthly newsletter from the College Placement Office.
