Thank you for your interest in employment at St. David's School. In an effort to increase our course offerings and expand the programs at St. David's, we are pleased to announce the following open positions for the 2011-2012 school year:

 

St. David's School SealLower School (K-4):
St. David's School seeks a talented and highly qualified educator to serve as Head of the Lower School to begin July 2012.  Qualified candidates will possess a proven track record of excellence in elementary education and will understand the dynamics of a Christ-centered school in the Episcopal tradition.  Ideal candidates for employment must embrace the school's mission “to prepare young men and women for college and life by providing challenging opportunities to excel in the vital areas of faith, virtue, and knowledge” and will understand how to integrate Biblical truth in and out of the classroom as we seek to balance both rigorous academics and character education throughout Pre-K through 12 th grades.  Candidates must be able to work well with students and colleagues and have excellent interpersonal skills.  Strong communication skills, an understanding of curriculum and pedagogy, and a joy of vocation are required for this position.  A master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience are preferred.

St. David's School seeks a talented and energetic Lower School Pre-Kindergarten teacher to begin August 2012.  Qualified candidates will possess a degree in Early Childhood Education, a North Carolina Teaching Certificate, and teaching experience at the Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten level.  This teacher would work closely with faculty members of the Lower School, developing curriculum and teaching strategies.  We value candidates with experience using a variety of classroom approaches, particularly the use of technology.  Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work well with students and colleagues.  A master's degree and a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience are preferred although not required.


 

Middle School (5-8):
For all positions, an advanced degree and teaching experience preferred.

Athletics:

St. David's School is seeking a dynamic Women's Volleyball Coach. This person will model the school's mission of preparing young women for college and life through the game of volleyball. The coach will be responsible for raising up young women--sharpening their skills in the game and their leadership in life.

 

The ideal candidate has played the game of volleyball on a higher level or has had coaching experience in doing so and is familiar with the rules and regulations of high school volleyball. Responsibilities include setting up and running all practices; traveling and driving the team to all away games scheduled for the season; communicating with the Athletic Director on all student athlete issues.

 

This position reports to the Athletic Director. This is a part time position that runs from the beginning of August through early November. Salary is commensurate with experience and expertise.

Other:

 

St. David's School is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance 1 employee to work in our Facilities Department.

The requirements of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

•  Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and HVAC. HVAC certification is preferred, but not required.

•  Be able to perform general custodial and maintenance jobs as directed by the Facilities Manager.

•  Be able to occasionally lift items weighing up to 75 lbs.

•  Be able to supervise and perform the occasional extra curricular activity setups of tables and chairs, etc. as needed.

•  Knowledge of painting and general maintenance of interior and exterior facilities.

•  Must have a cooperative spirit in working with faculty and staff.

•  Must have at least basic computer knowledge.

 

The hours are 7 am until 4 pm five days per week with occasional overtime as needed.
