Case For Support

St. David’s School is an independent Episcopal school that is located in the heart of Raleigh. Over the past 30 years, this school has prepared more than 1,500 students “for college and life by providing challenging opportunities to excel in the vital areas of faith, virtue, and knowledge.” To continue to provide excellent Christian education for all St. David’s students, it is imperative that we take the next step in growing our endowment, which will allow us to support our future growth of financial aid, scholarships, faculty salaries, and facility needs.

Our facility needs are significant. Currently, a large portion of both our Performing Arts and Athletic budgets are spent renting off-campus auditoriums and gymnasiums for events. To meet the need for these facilities on campus, our plans include building a new Performing Arts Center and Indoor Athletic Facility.

Also, as the school community has grown in size and spirit, the parking facilities on campus have become inadequate. To accommodate this growth, we plan to add parking under the new gymnasium and throughout the campus and reconfigure our traffic flow.

Finally, to promote a love of learning and community outside of the classroom, it is essential that students, faculty, and families have areas to congregate on the school campus. Today, there is limited space where this can occur and the proposed Commons and Dining Hall will address this need.

Growth of the endowment will help the School to meet its mission in many ways. In addition to the facility expansion, it will allow us to strengthen our faculty’s salaries and provide more opportunities for their professional development. It will also provide more need-based financial aid and it will provide funds to help pay the costs of future capital expenditures and maintenance of all facilities.

In order to meet these needs, the Together For Excellence Capital Campaign seeks to raise $15 million.
