Leadership Statement
Friends,
Though I am a Raleigh native, Doris and I raised our five children in Wilmington where they all attended an excellent, accredited private school. When we moved back to Raleigh in 2002 our three oldest were in college with the two youngest in 4th and 7th grade. Looking carefully at the educational options Raleigh and Cary had to offer, we eventually settled on
St. David's. It wasn't many weeks before the excellence of our choice became apparent. Faith, Virtue and Knowledge to be sure, along with engaged and caring teachers and administrators, impressive academic rigor, a terrific peer group of fellow students, and an involved and supportive parent body, was at St. David's, together with a humble and vibrant Christian spirit.
Though among our family we have more alma maters than we can count, we prayerfully decided that St. David's was a place where we could (and were eager to) make a
difference; where we
trusted and believed in the mission of the school, and where we had witnessed the positive results in our own children. Our commitment and enthusiasm for the school did not come second hand, but literally from the positive progress and changes we observed in (our children) Catherine and Billy and those of their classmates. Over time, our regard for
St. David's transitioned from mere appreciation to heartfelt enthusiastic support. When the Capital Campaign came along, we saw it as an opportunity for us to
tangibly support this fine institution and do our part to improve and sustain it into the future, much as the generous gifts and support of the founders did for us and our children. The truth is, St. David's needs and deserves facilities equal to the
excellence of its mission.
We are truly excited about being a part of the continuing legacy of St. David's; for what it has given to our children, and to yours, and for the values, capabilities and strong faith that these young men and women will take with them into their own lives, the community and the world. We pray you will join us in this most worthy and beneficial undertaking, as we seek to honor Christ in our faith and actions. Working together we can make a real difference by sustaining and improving St. David's, for our own children and for those that follow on the path of excellence that winds through this wonderful school.
In Faith,
