Team Stories
The Warriors’ swim team competed against St. Thomas More Academy, Cary Christian School, and Grace Christian School this past Thursday, January 20th at Triangle Aquatic Center at 11:30am. The Warriors placed first in all three men’s relays (200 Medley, 200 Free, and 400 Free) with a comfortable leads. Justin Arens dominated the men’s 200 Yard Freestyle, stealing first place. Arens is just as impressive backwards as he is going forward in the water proved by his second place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Senior Will Patrick placed second and 7th grader Charlie Slawinski snagged third place in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Junior Victor Luebke won the 100 Free by a solid margin of three seconds and crushed the competition in the 500 Free by a whopping fifteen seconds. Fabian Fallas Retana and Isaac Bostic pulled off first and second place, respectively, in the men’s 50 Yard Freestyle. Coach Campbell celebrated the Warrior’s win by saying, “Many swimmers dropped time in their races and improved their overall technique in the water. Great job Warriors!” You can find the Warriors back at it Tuesday, January 25th at Arendell Parrott Academy.
The St. David’s swim team faced Ravenscroft and Raleigh Charter at Ravenscroft on Thursday December 9th. Both teams were over double our size but the Warriors still gave it their best. “Many swimmers improved their times significantly,” said Coach Campbell. So as a team the warriors may not have won but individually did amazing. Sophomore Justin Arens brought home first and second place for the Warriors. He placed first in the 200yd Individual medley (2:03.79) and second in the 100yd butterfly (57:52). The Warriors will continue working hard in practice, so that we can improve and do even better next meet. They will also look forward to the next meet at O’Neal School on Tuesday, December 14th.
