Warrior Club

Dear St. David's Families:

On behalf of the Warrior Club of St. David's School, welcome to another great year of supporting our student-athletes at the varsity, junior varsity and middle school levels. As a volunteer organization, the Warrior Club's mission is not to support any single team but to boost our athletics program as a whole and to enrich the lives of all our students, whether as participants or fans. Our board works closely with Coach Wes Wilder, St. David's Athletic Director, to ensure the Club is supporting and complementing the school's priorities and the needs that are not covered through the school's operating budget. Fundraising takes place primarily in three ways: annual membership dues, Friday pizza sales, and, being introduced this year, our first annual golf tournament.

Membership: Family memberships are our single most valued contribution. Last year we saw a 25% increase in membership, reflecting a tremendous commitment from you in support of St. David's athletics. In addition to your membership dues, many parents contributed valuable hours of volunteer time in support of our student-athletes. We are grateful for the enthusiasm and willingness of so many who make our athletic program a very special part of the St. David's community. On behalf of the Warrior Club Board, I want to thank all our families who chose to join the Warrior Club last school year and encourage everyone to join this upcoming year.

Friday Pizza: With the help of many teams of parent volunteers, the Warrior Club sells and serves Domino's pizza as a lunch service every Friday. In response to concerns about the size of some pizza slices, we have changed the slice count from 10 to 8 per pizza and received very positive feedback from the students. We have found it necessary to increase the cost to $1.25 per slice, but the size of each slice will be bigger and more consistent. This will be the first change in price in at least five years. Thanks to all the parent volunteers who serve Friday Pizza on behalf of the Warrior Club.

First Annual Warrior Club Golf Classic: We are very excited about our upcoming golf outing that provides an opportunity for companies to entertain and host clients and friends in support of St. David's athletics. All proceeds from the golf classic have been committed to the school's Capital Campaign in support of the new facilities that will greatly enhance our athletic department.

Use of Funds: Each year, the Warrior Club board allocates funds based upon the priorities and needs of our membership and athletic department. In 2007-08, the Warrior Club provided the new scoreboard for the baseball field, a high jump pit for track and field, participation T-shirts for all athletes, end-of-year scholarship awards, stipends for assistant coaches, and funds in support of St. David's hosting of the State Swim meet.

The Warrior Club is committed to serving you, so please call on any of us with questions. We hope you will join us by becoming a Warrior Club member and by volunteering your time at a game or two in the coming school year. It is extremely gratifying to support our wonderful student-athletes as well as our coaches. We all contribute to the success that St. David's has to offer.
