The following databases have been purchased for our school community for this school year. Access is available on campus without a password via links in the SDS Library Resources folder on the school network (see your computer desktop) and on the library page of St. David's School website (see "Academics" tab). Remote (off-campus) access information follows the descriptions of each resource.
This resource includes biographies of thousands of individuals from all eras and fields, along with full-text articles from magazines and newspapers, images and links to related websites. Search by name or by category, such as musicians, scientists, world explorers, etc.

A database of specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. Included in our collection are reference books in histroy, literature, science, philosophy, and religion. Search one title or across all.

This Gale database provides global perspectives on issues and events of international importance, such as war, terrorism, human rights, world trade and climate change. More than 200 country pages are included. Full-text articles from 600 international periodicals and newspapers offer local viewpoints. Primary documents and statistics are included. Content is updated several times a day.

It features over 45,000 signed articles, 5.500 images, 40,000 images links, and timelines. Includes access to teh full text of the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, The Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms, and the Oxford Companion to Western Art.

JSTOR offers high-quality archives of over a thousand leading academic journals across the humanities, social sciences, and sciences, as well as select monographs of value to academic research. JSTOR also offers accesss to pamphlets, manuscripts, letters, images, oral histories, and more. Archives begin with volume 1, issue 1 of journals. Links provide access to the more recent issues of journals.

Each user must register and set up a unique username and password annually.
This research suite includes NoodleBib bibliography software. Students may record, organize and synthesize research information using online notecards that can be shared. Web-based, saved work can be accedded crom any computer, and teachers can review and insert comments/questions.

The OED is the accepted authority on the evolution of the English language, listing words from across English-speaking world. The OED gives the meaning, history and pronunciation of words, and traces their usage through 3 million quotations.

World Book Online Reference Center
WBO contains not only the content of World Book Encyclopedia, but thousands more articles by contributors, as well as maps, multi-media content, an atlas, editor-reviewed websites and full-text periodical articles. Enciclopedia Estudiantil Hallazgos, a Spanish language encyclopedia, and World Book Kids, a database for lower school students, are included. World Book Advanced provides access to primary source documents and research aides.
