The middle school girls lacrosse season is over after a 12-5 loss to Mills Park MS of Cary Tuesday at the Satellite Athletic Complex. Margaret Batchelder scored two goals, while Anne Slater Barnes, Kate Manning and Connor Lange tallied one each. “We improved in all areas over the course of the season,” said coach Anne Barnes. “Everyone learned to play all the positions, our ball movement got better, our field awareness improved a lot and they were a fun group to coach.

The middle school girls lacrosse team’s comeback fell short in a 10-8 loss at Durham Academy Thursday. The Warriors trailed 9-1 at halftime, but roared back with seven goals in the second half. “It was our best game so far,” said coach Missy Boyd. “I’m really proud of the way they kept competing and our comeback made it feel like a win.” Margaret Batchelder and Anne Slater Barnes led the scoring with two goals each. Anisa Barutis, Margaret Scoggin, Kate Manning and Medlin Weddington also added goals.

The middle school girls lacrosse team fell behind early, battled back to tie, then ultimately lost 10-5 to Our Lady of Lourdes Thursday at the Satellite Athletic Complex. The Warriors trailed 4-0 in the first half, before rallying to tie early in the second half. The Lions answered with six straight goals, before St. David’s scored late in the game. “It was the best we’ve played so far,” said coach Anne Barnes. “We passed and caught the ball better and showed that we can come from behind.” Anne Slater Barnes led the scoring with two goals and two assists. Kate Manning also scored twice and Margaret Batchelder had one goal. McKenna Lewis came up with a season best nine saves in goal.

The middle school girls lacrosse team lost, 10-6, to St. Michael’s Tuesday afternoon at the Satellite Athletic Complex. Kate Manning scored twice, as did Connor Lang, whose second goal came with just one second left in the game. Margaret Batchelder and Medlin Weddington also found the net. Anne Slater Barnes had two assists, Margaret Scoggin secured four ground balls and goalie McKenna Lewis had seven saves.

The middle girls lacrosse team dropped a 10-6 decision to Mills Park Middle School of Cary Thursday at the Satellite Athletic Complex. St. David’s fell behind 4-0 in the first two minutes before battling back for a 6-2 halftime deficit. “We played much better as the game went along,” said coach Anne Barnes. “We were much better than in our opener last week at the beginning of this game and we ended this one with a strong scoring finish.”  St. David’s scored four goals in the final five minutes. Kate Manning and Anne Slater Barnes scored two goals each, while Margaret Batchelder and Medlin Weddington scored once.
