Recognizing the value of disparate voices, St. David’s offers students, parents, faculty members and the local community access to a wide variety of guest speakers. We invite leaders from the community and from across the country to speak to our students and parents about real life challenges to faith, virtue and knowledge and the rewards for choosing a virtuous life.
Chaplaincy Speaker Series
The Chaplaincy Speaker Series invites parents and community members to campus to hear national speakers on a variety of topics. Past discussions have included “Evidence for the Existence of God” by a particle physicist and a presentation about “The World and Influence of C.S. Lewis” by a world-renown Lewis scholar.
Senior Seminar Speaker Series
Senior Seminar speakers are invited to reflect upon how moral obligation, ethical duty, faith and a sense of fairness and justice have shaped their lives and their work. These reflections have become a vital component in the curriculum for the Senior Seminar titled “The Shape of the Moral Life,” which is required of all seniors for graduation at St. David's School. Past speakers have included college professors, journalists, politicians, business leaders and philanthropists.
Three years ago, St. David’s stepped onto the global stage by hosting its first ever TEDx event. Now the event has turned into an annual opportunity for “Simply Speaking.” Students have reimagined TEDx and created a new forum for intellectual curiosity and the exchange of ideas. Simply Speaking is an annual event in which a team of students invites speakers from the surrounding area and beyond to share their stories with the St. David’s community. Speakers from past events include entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, local business owners, publishers, inventors, parents, students, and more.
